Car refinishing using DUR a.k.a "Drying Undercoat Refinishing" method
Car refinishing is a process of restoring the appearance of a vehicle's exterior. This involves repairing damage to the body, applying new paint, coatings, and other finishing materials to achieve a desired look, and polishing the surface for a smooth and glossy finish. It's done to repair damage or give an older vehicle a fresh new look.

1. Priming: After sanding and preparing the surface of the car, a primer coat is applied to ensure proper adhesion of the paint layers.

2. Basecoat Application: The basecoat, which provides the color, is then applied over the primer. This is usually done in multiple layers to achieve the desired color depth and consistency.

3. Drying Undercoat Refinishing (DUR): This step involves drying the undercoat layers, particularly the basecoat, before applying the clear coat. It's essential for ensuring proper curing and adhesion of the paint layers, as well as preventing defects such as solvent popping or blistering.

4. Clear Coat Application: Once the undercoat is sufficiently dried, a clear coat is applied to protect the basecoat and provide gloss and durability to the finish. Like the basecoat, the clear coat is typically applied in multiple layers for optimal results.

5. Final Drying and Curing: After applying the clear coat, the entire paint job needs to dry and cure thoroughly. This process may involve baking in a controlled environment (e.g., a paint booth) or allowing the paint to air dry, depending on the type of paint and refinishing system used.
